New Muslim Transitional Housing

Zakat are only for the Fuqara, and Al-Masakin (the poor) and those employed to collect [the funds], and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined [towards Islam], and to free the captives, and for those in debt, and for Allah’s Cause, and for the wayfarer; a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.”
(Quran 9:60)
The affairs of keeping up with Masjid Al Farooq’s utility bills solely rely on your generosity. Thank you for always answering our call for support. May Allah, the Exalted, rectify all your affairs – Ameen. Your continued support is an absolute must to keep the doors of Masjid Al Farooq open.
Did you know?
In 2018, Masjid Al Farooq witnessed 20 Shahada (Conversions to Islam).
Masjid Al Farooq’s halfway houses are the only shelter and support available for new Muslims on Chicago’s South Side.
The majority of new Muslims are abandoned or kicked out by their families.
Support Beyond Shahada
Smiles, hugs and Takbeer (God is Great) are what a new convert is always greeted with in a Masjid. However, a great number of new Muslims leave Islam shortly thereafter due to a lack of spiritual, social and financial support as they struggle to practice their faith in hostile environments.
Starting 2011, Masjid Al Farooq’s Outreach Committee purchased two halfway houses to host and shelter new and homeless Muslims – one for sisters and one for brothers. Due to the increasing demand in the following years, we purchased three more halfway houses to provide our sisters and brothers a safe, Islamic environment.
Support our Halfway Houses
Please support our new Muslim sisters and brothers with a generous donation. We need it to maintain the existing five houses and purchase new ones.
Your assistance can be in the form of Sadaqah, Zakat or Waqf (Endowment). These sisters and brothers qualify for 3 categories of Zakat recipients.
